Changes in life style including physical inactivity, unwholesome dietary habit, polluted environment and tobacco chewing develop a number of diseases known as Life style disorders. These diseases are mainly Obesity, Diabetes, Heart disease, Osteoarthritis, Cancer, Chronic renal failure, Depression and Metabolic disorders etc.
Obesity is one of them which are going to be an epidemic now a day and extended across the world, so this particular disease needs an assistance of Ayurvedic view of prevention and management. This article reviews the Lifestyle changing factors related to Obesity (Sthoulya) and suggests a little but meaningful regimen beneficial in the prevention and management of Obesity to incorporate into daily practice.
Among all indriyas (sense organs), netra (eye) is pradhana indriya (utmost). Special care and concern should be taken to protect it. Stress and strain related disorders of the eye are common in the present era of computers and gadgets. We are now a day’s witnessing school-going kids wearing spectacles at a tender age because of technology addiction and erratic study postures, wrong choices of food and sleep preferences. Majority of eye problems are due to the faulty use of eye with modern life style. Thus assessment was made to invest knowledge of ancient science for fulfilling the growing demand of mankind in new era. Ayurveda, the ancient system of medicine gives valuable guidelines not only in treatment aspects but also in preventive line. There is a great need to find out an ocular procedure for prevention and treatment of eye diseases having no or least adverse effect. Akshitarpana karma is one of the local therapeutic procedure which if promptly used shows objective evidences of excellent responses. In this article there is a review on akshi tarpana karma, their indications, contraindications and possible mode of action is discussed.

Human body requires food to provide energy for all life processes, growth, repair and maintenance. A balanced diet contains different types of foods in such quantities and proportions that the need of the body is adequately met. But without knowing proper dietary guidelines one cannot gain optimum benefit from the food consumed. In Ayurveda, Ahara forms the important component of life as it is included in the Tri-Upastambha (three pillars of life). Ayurveda describes Ahar vidhi vidhan in which many guidelines are given by Acharyas to modify digestion and to get the maximum benefit of the food that is being taken. By following these dietary guidelines one can improve his or her digestion and attain a good health and prevent many diseases arising due to faulty dietary habits. Ahara Vidhi Vidhan (Dietary Guidelines) is a unique concept of Ayurveda. This particular study deals with compilation and classification of Ahara Vidhi Vidhan described in Ayurvedic texts.
